Spirit-filled worship, practical teaching from leading youth speakers, performances
from a wide range of international and local Christian artists, a packed fringe programme
of outdoor activities, sport and entertainment and 3000 of your closest mates to
share it all with.....so what’s keeping ya!
THE LAST WORD – are you up to the challenge?
Next year's theme at Madness is 'The Last Word' - we're tying in with the BibleFresh
initiative celebrating 400 years since KJV was completed and encouraging young people
to really get to grips with the Bible.
So to help create a bit of a buzz around this over the next 12 months, we’re proposing
four 'challenges' to youth groups and young people - and SM staff!
CHALLENGE 1 - *Memorize the Bible*... well at least the second half J Together we
could memorize the entire New Testament and so by SM11 we will have a proper ‘Living
Bible’ amongst us all.
Just imagine - your youth group could rehearse the whole Gospel
of Mark, or John, or Luke. Over the next few weeks and months you could cover a single
book of the New Testament between your entire group; use it in church on Sunday etc.
So why not join us in what could well be a ‘record-breaking’ feat and come to Madness
next year with the Bible in our hearts and heads.
At Madness during mainstage, on
one of the evenings, we will test ourselves and all together (simultaneously) speak
aloud our ‘bit of the God’s Word’ So all 270 chapters of the New Testament will be
spoken out at once.
We will then be promoting some other helpful ways of getting the
scriptures into our very being and look at other verses and ideas for holding the
Word of God close to us. Just sign up here for the link to claim your passage!
CHALLENGE 2 - *Record the whole of the Bible* in 'Irish' voices/accents (create an
audio SM Bible. An MP3 for each chapter.... using www.audioboo.com) This sounds like
a big undertaking…but with the use of Audioboo and the enthusiasm of young people
add their voices to the first ‘spoken’ Bible from Ireland it couldn’t be simpler.
What a really cool way for young people from Cork to Coleraine and Galway to Galgorm
to add their voices for posterity to a new way of reading and hearing the Bible.
CHALLENGE 3 - *Read the Bible aloud* at SM11 - cover to cover. Throughout the Festival
we will attempt to read the entire Bible – within the 100 hours of Madness. We always
have 24/7 worship going on…so we hope to cover the scriptures while we pray!
CHALLENGE 4 - *Engage thousands of young people in a Bible reading plan* - the Essential
100 plan to be precise. This is a fantastic S.U. resource which helps you discover
the ‘big story’ of the Bible for yourself. It takes you on a journey through 100
easy-to-read passages and helps you reflect on how the Bible’s message applies to
you today – and how to connect your story to the big story. We intend, along with
others to support all of the Festival goers with a special print edition of the actual
passages to complement the many global resources that are already developed around
this initiative. We also hope to have our own web based mechanism to support the
reading plan with local ‘experts’ providing input and answering questions on an interactive
site focusing on the 100 readings.
THIS IS EXCITING STUFF and we want as many as possible to join us on the journey
so why not sign up now and take part in any or all of the challenges with or without
your group! (SUBCSM11)
