A fantastic chance to get your hands of some new-ish gear and have a great time with a few mates around a coffee and some buns.

THE PLAN:

• Bring a few items of clothing down to the Dock (all cleaned up)
• Collect a token for each item (extra tokens will be given for various types of ‘high value gear’)
• Arrive a little early (if you didn’t bring your clothes down on Thursday)
• Swap your tokens for an all-new outfit
• Drink your coffee
• Sit back and enjoy the music, the craic and your new look!

THE PROCEEDS:
Entrance is just £5 and all the money raised on the evening will go to FIELDS OF LIFE and their well digging programme in UGANDA (plus you get free coffee and cupcakes!).

Summer Madness and Church Army would like to announce the appointment of Jasper Rutherford to the new role of Outreach and Development Officer among young people and young adults in Ireland.

Jasper will build on Summer Madness’ successful reputation in Ireland and beyond as he works to inspire thousands of young people and young adults to engage with mission.

Before training with Church Army as a Pioneer Evangelist, Jasper was a Youth Worker in inner east Belfast for seven years where he pioneered a variety of youth initiatives that saw real fruit grow in many young peoples’ lives who would previously never have set foot in a church.

Jasper said: “I am so excited about this post – I have had to reign myself in a bit and not get too carried away! How do young people and young adults share their faith with their friends today? Can we help them with this? Encourage them with this? Equip them in this? How can we support the local church to do this better and more intentionally?

“I am convinced God is longing for us to share him more openly with each other, and more openly with people who don’t yet know him. I hope and pray that this post will have a key role in working alongside lots of other youth organisations who are passionate to reach young people and young adults for Jesus all over Ireland.”

Mark Russell, Church Army Chief Executive, said: “Jasper is a gifted leader and Evangelist and I’m thrilled his considerable gifts will be used in this strategic new role. He is passionate about raising up a new generation of young people committed to reaching their generation for Christ, and I’m delighted Church Army is working in partnership with Summer Madness.”

John Kee, Summer Madness Festival Director, said: “I am very excited to have Jasper working alongside us and am looking forward to what God will be doing in this new chapter of the story of Summer Madness”.

Summer Madness this year has taken a big step of faith and moved from Belfast to Glenarm Castle Estate on the Antrim Coast. Jasper will be joined on stage this year by Shane Claiborne, Duffy Robbins, Mike Pilavachi, Rend Collective and many other speakers and worship leaders. Summer Madness this year runs from Friday 29th June to Tuesday 3rd July.

If you’d rather see the new sub-camps for yourself – rather than from the air and courtesy of our helicopter footage, then join us on May 13th at 3:30pm. Bring some sarnies – we’ll do some refreshments and give you a royal tour of the entire campus. Come in through the main gate and drive on through to the ‘Tea Room /Walled Garden’ and we’ll meet you there!

Caravan-ers

You can bring a caravan along to Summer Madness for no extra cost. Bear in mind that you cannot park your car beside the caravan and we have only limited access to a Festival power supply  – so book your electrical hook up early. Read here for more details.

Activities

While Summer Madness is crucially about that special encounter with God that helps you take one step further on the journey of faith, no-one said you couldn’t have a little fun along the way!  So we have put together a few ideas of how to use of the acres and acres of beautiful space. Below is an initial list of the activities and a rough idea of what they might cost.

Beautiful Sunday afternoon, Church has just finished, you’ve got a picnic packed and you’re off!

M2 to Mallusk, A8 towards Larne, swing left towards the coast road and after another 10 minutes, hey – you’ll be rounding the corner to the quiet little village of GLENARM. (Both of which adjectives may be retracted for a period around the start of July.

At 3.30pm you are welcome to join us in the Park for a ‘private’ viewing of the rural delights that await the Summer Madness.

We’ll have a few refreshments and a few answers to some of your questions…the rest we’ll make up.
